From nature to nurture.

Consumers today are more interested in the origin and natural credentials of their beauty products – but these products must also be effective and do what they claim on the package.

Discover GENENCARE®, a range of natural active ingredients, such as osmolytes, developed to improve performance and enhance the consumer's experience over a range of skin, hair, and color cosmetic applications.

GENENCARE® OSMS BA

Discover natural betaine for skin and hair care: GENENCARE® OSMS BA is a sustainably sourced bioactive extracted from a side stream of sugar production. Betaine is a natural osmolyte, part of the NMF, which helps balance water in skin and within the formulation, to provide moisturization, protection and sensory benefits. In haircare, it provides protection benefits.

THE SCIENCE OF OSMOLYTES IN SKINCARE APPLICATIONS
Science of Osmolytes
Betaine and inositol are major osmolytes present in the epidermal layers of the skin.

These osmolytes occur naturally to play an active role in water regulation, and help to optimize skin health. When the skin is dry, keratinocytes respond by increasing production of osmolyte transporters on their cell membrane, which results in increased uptake of osmolytes. This increased uptake restores cell hydration. Skin exposure to UV-A or UV-B radiation triggers similar response from keratinocytes. We have tapped into this hidden power of nature with GENENCARE® OSMS, a range of skin bioactives to protect skin cells from osmotic stress, assist protein folding, and stabilize the native structure of proteins.

Benefits of Natural Betaine For Skin and Hair Care

Natural betaine is used in personal care as a moisturizing ingredient because of its humectant properties (hydration-optimizing). Just as natural betaine can help strengthen the skin barrier on the face, it can help strengthen skin barrier integrity on the scalp and protect it from surfactant irritation.
