DuPont Industrial Biosciences Launches DuPont™ Axtra® PRO in Latin America25 September 2017
Provides Producers With Flexible, More Sustainable Choices in Formulating Animals’ Diets
SEPTEMBER 25, 2017 - DuPont Industrial Biosciences (DuPont) announced the launch of DuPont™ Axtra® PRO, a single protease enzyme in Latin America at Congreso Latinoamericano de Avicultura(CLA), which runs Sept. 26-29, 2017. Axtra® PRO will improve protein digestibility in animal diets and save animal producers up to US$7.8/treated ton, without compromising performance or animal health.
“The Axtra® PRO single protease enzyme provides customers with flexibility in ingredient selection while delivering a high-quality product for animals.”
“The Axtra® PRO single protease enzyme provides customers with flexibility in ingredient selection while delivering a high-quality product for animals,” said John Julio Jansen, director Latin America, DuPont Industrial Biosciences. “This high-performance single protease enzyme will increase digestibility of amino acids in major feed ingredients like soybean meal. Producers can now use less soybean meal and still meet the amino acid requirements of their birds, alternatively, they also can use less expensive, less digestible protein sources.”
- Improved amino acid digestibility
Axtra® PRO improves the digestibility of amino acids present in animal diets. Between 15-20 percent of dietary protein typically escapes digestion by the animal’s endogenous proteases and passes through as waste – causing serious challenges for poultry producers. However, research has shown that on average Axtra® PRO provides improvements proportional to the undigested fraction, making 22 percent of the non-digested amino acids digestible.
- Offers more flexibility in ingredient selection
Axtra® PRO provides flexibility in feed formulation by enabling the use of alternative, lower quality protein sources that would otherwise be overlooked. By adding the single protease enzyme to animal diets, Axtra® PRO reduces dependency on protein sources such as soybeans, which also are used for human consumption.
- Protects the environment by reducing emissions
The ability of Axtra® PRO to improve the animals’ digestion of protein means less nitrogenous waste is excreted, leading to a potential 15 percent reduction in ammonia emissions.
“We’re proud to introduce DuPont’s broad-spectrum protease enzyme to the Latin America market today,” said Jansen. “Animal producers will find that Axtra® PRO not only provides animals with better protein digestibility from more economic protein sources, but the solution also will increase performance and revenue.”
