“Enzymology involves designing experiments to assay enzymes in small-scale application tests. We then use the results to develop newer, better, faster products for our customers.

We want to focus on testing only the most promising enzymes for the application. So first, our colleagues in Protein Engineering identify a number of promising variants.

Then we use our knowledge and experience of the environments and substrates our enzymes will have to interact with, to develop predictive assays that will further eliminate variants and accelerate the time to market.

Typically, we would then feed back the results for more engineering, until our assays show that we have robust, flexible enzymes that can go forward to larger-scale application testing.”

“Predicting enzyme performance in a real world application enables more efficient protein engineering. Ultimately, that accelerates time to market.”
