“There’s a huge amount of data to analyse in our business. We have developed our Bioinformatics systems to make all the data accessible to all of our people globally.

That means we need to organise the data in an efficient way. So we store our own data in our GOI (Gene of Interest) database and provide several methods to make sure our colleagues can extract and analyse what they need quickly and easily.

We also need to reduce the numbers of variants to assay. So we organise them into protein families and take some sequences from each family. Much unnecessary work can be eliminated at this stage.

We work closely with our molecular biologists to ensure that our bioinformatics systems enable techniques like gene expression and protein structure prediction to be carried out efficiently”.
