“The purpose of Model Systems is to enable us to assess product performance and substrate interaction in the lab.
We’re very close to the customer and their technical production requirements. So we aim to replicate their real world, large scale application – of, for example, Textile Processing or Animal Nutrition – in a small-scale test system.
That enables us to determine how the product would translate to the industrial environment, and the conditions our enzyme is going to have to perform in.
I like to think Model Systems is where ‘the rubber meets the road.’ It enables faster innovation, anchored in a customer-centric approach.
I’d say we’re innovating 5 times faster than a decade ago. Model Systems is an important contributor to that.”
